The Story of Matariki

Once long ago in a beautiful valley there lived seven sisters who were making kites for harvest.
The first sister made a green kite from the harakeke bush. Then the second sister made the orange kite
from raupo  bush. The third sister made a pink kite from the manuka tree. The fourth sister made a red
kite from piriri tree. The fifth sister made a blue kite the colour of river. The sixth sister made a white kite
from toetoe bush. The seventh made a kite that is colourful and it was a kite. She was the smallest and
her name was matariki the wind wasn’t going then the seven sisters went to sleep and when they went
to sleep and then when the wind was blowing hard the kites flew up in the sky. Then matariki woke up
she woke the six sisters up  they tried to find their kite then matariki cried then matariki looked up and
she found the kites then she told the sisters and the big sister said to matariki that is you seven stars.
